<\/a>\nA TOURIST was fined \u00a340 after being accused of wearing a bikini which was \u201cjust a string\u201d while on holiday at Boracay beach.<\/p>\n
The female traveller was reported to the police after being spotted in the skimpy swimwear at the popular holiday destination. According to Boracay Inter-Agency Management and Rehabilitation Group\u2019s (BIAMRG) Natividad Bernardino, the hotel had told them it was inappropriate, reported the Philippine News Agency (PNA).<\/p>\n However, she failed to apologise and explained it was a \u201cform of art,\u201d continuing to wear it. Malay police chief, Major Jess Baylon said she was reported because the bikini was \u201cliterally just string\u201d.<\/p>\n e told PNA: \u201cWe have taken this action for other tourists not to follow.\u201d<\/p>\n While hotels and resorts have certain protocols in place, warning tourists on the unofficial dress code, Major Baylon said it was an \u201can eye-opener for resort owners to brief guests to dress appropriately\u201d. Officials warned tourists to \u201crespect the country\u2019s culture and tradition\u201d.

\nThe female tourist, from Taiwan, was with her boyfriend when she was caught wearing the bikini on the island of Boracay, south of Manila in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

\nThe woman was then reported to the police and while there are no laws for wearing indecent clothing, was fined PHP2,500 (\u00a340) for \u201cerotic and lewd photographs\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n

\nHe added that the protocol was \u201cnot very extensive\u201d which is why visitors continue to break the rules.<\/p>\n
